Burning of Constitution
William Lloyd Garrison wanted to bring an end to slavery. He thinks its completely absurd and so do I. Why can't we just end this now. I can't understand why people think they can decide that they can do whatever they want to people. In 1854 he publically burned the Constitution at a Anti-slavery rally and they greatly supported his actions. I have to say that I was a little proud too. I mean, this isnt right and someone needs to put their foot down. He is a good man. He's compaigning pacifism, temperence, and women's sufferage. Every night I thank God for this man and pray that there will be more like him.

There is a new act that has just been passed called the Kansas-Nebraska Act. It was passed on May 30,1854. This act allowed people in Kansas and Nebraska to decide for themselves whether or not to allow slavery within their borders. I was hoping that this would create a little more peace and settle some of the extreme arguments. This act was supposed to end the Missouri Compromise of 1820 which banned slavery in the north. People in the North didn't agree with this act. They thought it defied the Missouri Compromise. This disagreement between the North and the South led to the "bleeding Kansas". This is the complete opposite reaction I had in mind. So much violence has occured because of this. I just hope things get better.
